The Public Works Services Division provides maintenance and repairs for all City sewers, sidewalks and fire hydrants; maintains stream beds, weirs and stream banks; maintains drainage tunnels, box culverts and storm water pollution removal facilities; maintains bridges; and conducts snow removal and flood control operations. The construction management of capital sewer, storm water and transportation projects is the responsibility of the Department of Project Implementation (DPI). Deadline for Receipt of Vendor Questions July 11, 2024 City Issues Responses to Vendor Questions via Amendment July 18, 2024 The City of Alexandria, Virginia has experienced considerable growth in the past thirty (30) years, both in terms of the increased number of residents who make the City of Alexandria their home and the number of employees, businesses, government, and non-profit organizations that are located in the City. The City is expected to continue to grow well into the future, which will impact the City's existing sanitary sewer and storm water infrastructure, as well as transportation facilities. In addition, many of the City's sewers are at the end of their useful life and infrastructure upgrades will be needed to serve existing and future residents and businesses. The City reserves the right to openly solicit for similar projects/work covered within this Contract, as it deems necessary.
