The estimated construction cost for the project is $170,000 The work to be done in general consists of mobilization, traffic control, curb ramp installation, signing, traffic striping and markings, rectangular rapid flashing beacon, traffic signal modification, and all other work as specified in these Special Provisions and shown in the Drawings. The Contractor shall possess at least one of the following valid Contractor's licenses at the time the bids are opened: Class "A," General Engineering Contractor, or; Class "C-10," Electrical Contractor. Further, only a contractor registered with the Department of Industrial Relations (DIR) to bid on public works contracts in California shall be permitted to submit a bid. Furthermore, only subcontractors registered with the DIR to bid on public works contracts in California shall be permitted to perform work or labor or render service under subcontract to the subject contractor. The Contractor shall have completed within the last five years a minimum of three Capital Improvement Program (CIP) projects for one or more public agencies; these projects shall involve work of similar type and complexity, each project at not less than $100,000. There is no pre-bid meeting for this work; however, contractors are strongly encouraged to visit all sites in advance of the bid to familiarize themselves with the nature of the existing conditions. The Contractor may elect to receive 100% of payments due under the contract from time to time, without retention of any portion of the payment by the City, by depositing securities of equivalent value with the City in accordance with the provisions of Section 22300 of the Public Contract Code and with applicable City regulations. Such securities, if deposited by the Contractor, will be valued by the City's Finance Director, whose decision on valuation of the securities will be final.
