Description The Project is located in Patrick County, Virginia, and involves construction a four-lane divided roadway, of which portions are anticipated to be on a new alignment. The limits of the Project are from approximately 0.1 miles west of Route 795 (Mabry Mill Road) to approximately 0.51 miles East of Route 610 East Intersection (Cloudbreak Road), for a total length of approximately 4.5 miles. The reconstructed roadway will be a divided highway that will greatly contribute to travel safety along the rolling segment. While the widening of U.S. Route 58 to four lanes with median separation will constitute the main elements of the project, adequately wide shoulders will be included as well. These shoulders will improve safety for the roadway's vehicular users by providing an extra margin of safety or a place to pull over during a vehicle breakdown or other emergency. This design-build project serves to add capacity and improve safety along the approximately 4.5 miles of Rte. 58 with additional improvements including stormwater management facilities. The existing bridge over the Dan River will be replaced as part of the project.
