Demolition, site work, paving, outdoor lighting, new construction and renovation of a mixed-use development in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Design plans call for the construction of a bridge / tunnel; for site work for a bridge / tunnel; for paving for a bridge / tunnel; for outdoor lighting for a bridge / tunnel; bridge / tunnel; and sidewalk / parking lot.
Plans call to replace the existing bridge. The new bridge will be elevated 15 feet higher with a single-pier cable design including lighting, landscaping, and two pedestrian bicycle lanes. The City of Cedar Rapids was awarded $56 million in federal funding. As of April 29, 2025, the project is 30% design complete. A tentative bid schedule for contractors has not been released. Construction anticipated to begin in 2027. However, the firm timeline has not been identified.
