Site work and paving for a mixed-use development in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Completed plans call for site work for a playground / park / athletic field; sidewalk / parking lot; for paving for a sidewalk / parking lot; and water / sewer project.

Final Questions Due: July 23rd, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. Questions Answered By: July 26th, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. All inquiries for information concerning instruction for this informal bid process should be directed to: Darrell Keyes, Interim Finance Director 919-918-7439 dkeyes@carrboronc.gov Technical questions should be directed to: Keith Berger, Deputy of Public Works Director (Project Manager or someone else designated by Public Works) 919-918-7432 cberger@carrboronc.gov The successful bidder shall provide all labor, materials, supplies, and equipment necessary to professionally remove existing asphalt, level the area, repave two (2) new basketball courts, color, and install four (4) basketball goals. The basketball courts are approximately 98ft wide x 94ft long. It is the Recreation, Parks, & Cultural Resources Department intention that the recommended repairs be performed by the awarded bidder, however the Recreation, Parks, & Cultural Resources Department is under no obligation to complete all recommended repairs. The winning bidder is responsible for taking their own field measurements. Bid Date notes: A Bidder will receive an email response when a bid has been received. It is the sole responsibility of the Bidder to ensure that their bid reaches the Issuing Department by the designated date and hour indicated above. A site visit is highly recommended (before sending a bid). 1. Remove existing asphalt and basketball goals. 2. Add 6" HDPE perforated underdrain around the perimeter of the court to help with drainage. The pipes shall outlet into the slope on the southwest side of the courts. Diagrams listed as Attachment B. 3. Provide 6" of stone base. Contractor shall verify base materials and if less than 6" exist material shall be brought in to have a 6" minimum base. 4. Fill visible low areas and lower visible high spots. Ensure a slight .5% slope water doesn't pond on the court. 5. Shore up base as needed, before paving 2.5" in two lifts, 1.5" of 9.5mm surf CRS and 1" of 4.75mm Surf CRS of asphalt. 6. The basketball court is approximately 94' x 98' (courts are not regulation size.). New asphalt must cure for 30 days prior to color surface application. 7. Apply 2 coat(s) of California Products Acrylic Resurfacer (or similar product) to subject courts 8. Apply 2 coats of California Products Fortified Plexipave (or similar product) to all subject courts. Fortified Plexipave shall comply with specification 10.2 of California Products Corporation. Coverage: a. First coat: 10-15 square yards per gallon (.07-0.1 gal/sq.yd.) b. Second coat: 15-20 square yards per gallon (.05-.07 gal./sq.yds.) 9. Playing lines shall be marked and painted with Plexicolor (or similar product) white line paint. 10. Fortified Plexipave passes QUV test of 1000 hours, illustrating UV stability. Fortified Plexipave is an authorized surface of the Intercollegiate Athletic Association. Fortified Plexipave has been classified by the International Tennis Federation as a Category 2. 11. Installation of basketball post and goals and removable pickleball posts. The basketball goals should be a fixed height system with graffiti-resistant backboard. The rims should be with nylon nets. The basketball hoop goal height should be 10 feet from the surface after installation. The basketball goals should be installed within the court material. It is anticipated for work to start late fall or early spring when surface temperature is 50 Fahrenheit. No part of the Plexipave System may be conducted during rain or when rain is imminent. Please include rain make up dates in timeline. The successful Bidder must make every effort to complete the project within 120 days after start date.
