ICP Mass Spectrophotometer The ICP-MS (Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry) is capable of meeting detection levels for water and wastewater metal analysis, and it can simultaneously analyze multiple elements, offering significant advantages over the PWC Graphite Furnace atomic absorption. The current method cannot meet the new detection levels for heavy metals like Arsenic, Selenium, and Molybdenum, leading to the need for outsourcing these analyses. Additionally, the PWC Graphite Furnace frequently requires major repairs, causing delays, and is being phased out by the industry. In contrast, ICP-MS not only meets the required detection levels and analyzes multiple elements rapidly, but it also resolves matrix interferences more effectively in complex discharges. For Lead and Copper analysis, ICP-MS reduces analysis time by eliminating the need for sample spiking. Overall, ICP-MS provides faster turnaround time and reporting, which is critical with the new Lead and Copper rules.
