Site work and new construction of a mixed-use development in Fernie, British Columbia. Completed plans call for the construction of a 25,000-square-foot, one-story above grade, 265-seat educational facility; and for site work for a educational facility.
A new elementary school will accommodate the growing number of elementary students in the city and alleviate enrolment pressure at the other School District owned elementary school in Fernie, Isabella Dicken Elementary. This project will be designed for a capacity of 265 (40K/225E) students in a single storey design, complete with parking, bus loop, fire access, playground, and playfields. The project will include a GHG reduction strategy, reducing operational emissions by approximately 60% compared to a LEED Gold baseline building. The NLC allowance will provide purpose-built space for Indigenous Education associated events such as talking circles for students and the greater community. The NLC allowance will also include a warming kitchen to support community functions and expand the gym.
