The DeSoto County Board of County Commissioners is soliciting Formal Bids for the Pine Level Bridge Repair Construction Project. There will be no Pre-Bid Meeting. Question Deadline 08/08/2024 No contract or technical question will be accepted after seven (7) day prior to the date set for bid opening. The DeSoto County Road and Bridge Department wishes to replace decking, stringers, eastern concrete approach slab and associated appurtenances for the 24-ft by 134-ft timber bridge on NW Pine Level Street over Horse Creek (Bridge 044031). DeSoto County will supply all lumber and hardware. The Contractor will be responsible to provide all labor, equipment, concrete and rebar necessary to complete the Scope of Services as outlined below. 2.0 DESOTO COUNTY ROAD AND BRIDGE DEPARTMENT RESPONSIBILITIES: 2.1 Supply all bridge lumber and hardware required for the Scope of Work. 2.2 Deliver all materials to the bridge location. 2.3 Supply Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) include concrete barriers and Type 3 barricades at the work location and advanced detour signage for the closure of the bridge for the duration of the Contract. 2.4 Attend a Kick-Off Meeting including a site visit to review the Scope of Work. 2.5 Perform inspection of Contractors work. 2.6 Perform riprap sand-cement bag headwall repairs before or after construction. 1 Remove guardrail on bridge deck, guardrail posts and blocking, bump rail, deck boards, stringers and associated blocking and hard ware and dispose of all items unless stated to be reused. 3.2 Replace guardrail posts and blocking include new bolts, nuts and washer or reuse of existing bolts, nuts, washers and guardrail reflectors. New or reused hardware shall be at the discretion of DeSoto County Road and Bridge. Guardrail posts are 6" x 8" x 6' and shall be cut to size (approximately 4' 3" by the Contractor). Guard rail post replacement shall only include guardrails connected to the bridge structures. Work on approach guardrails is not included except as needed to remove the existing guardrail to allow for the work. 3.3 Reinstall the existing guardrail. 3.4 Replace all 4"x 6" bump rails (3 wide per side) using new nails. 3.5 Replace all 4"x 6" deck board (453 +/- total) using new nails. 3.6 Replace all 4" x 18" x 18' stringers (15 total wide and spliced as needed, 150+/- total). Blocking shall be installed between all stringers at the pile caps. Interior stringer connection at blocking shall be nailed using 12-inch nails. Exterior stringer connections shall be bolted. All nails shall be new. Bolts, washers and nuts may be new or reused at DeSoto County Road and Bridge discretion. 3.7 Replace interior bent 'V' braces (32 +/- total). Only braces between piles and stringers shall be replaced. For end bents, existing 'V' braces shall be reused and nailed to new stringers. 3.8 Removal and disposal of the existing approach slab on the eastern side of the bridge and the millings between the remaining portion of the eastern approach slab and the timber bridge deck to accommodate the approach slab replacement. The remaining portion of the approach slab is approximately 22-ft wide by 17-ft 4-in long. The millings area is approximately 22-ft wide by 8-ft 8-inch long. Minor earthwork and grading may be required to comply with the standards for replacement. 3.9 Replacement of the eastern approach slab. The new slab shall be 22-ft wide by 26' long and shall connect the existing asphalt roadway and the timber bridge deck in the area currently occupied by the approach slab and milling area. The new approach slab shall comply with FDOT Standard Plan Index 400-091 (FY 2024/25) and the FDOT Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction (FY 2024/25). All form materials, concrete, rebar and associated materials needed for the approach slab construction shall be supplied by the Contractor. The DeSoto County Board of County Commissioners are seeking formal Bids from qualified firms and/or individuals for DeSoto County's Pine Level Bridge Repair Construction Project as indicated within the context of this Bid.
