The communications rooms that currently service Lockhart are 5L27, 0L05A, 3C11A, 4CM13A, and 7L00. A new communications room to be constructed in Lockhart Hall 7th floor (7L01), will service FOURTH, FIFTH, SIXTH and SEVENTH floors of Lockhart. All new Cat 6 cabling will terminate in the new communications room. New cabinets to terminate the cabling will be supplied by the UW. After re-cabling and re-configuring all clients to the new cabling, all the old cabling will be removed. Back-up power generator to be installed inside the new comms room and to feed UPS units installed in new cabinets. See Attachment I. The general plan is to re-cable Lockhart upper floors into the new communications room, patch and reconfigure all end-user devices to the new cabling, and remove all the old cabling servicing Lockhart. Steps of the project: 1. Build up new communications room in Lockhart Hall 7th floor following the IFC package. See Attachment H. 2. Add new Cat6 cables (in parallel with old cables) that terminate into the new communications room 7L01. The number of cables to be added is +-418. See attached maps for cables to be added. (Attachment E). 3. Add new fiber runs to connect the new communications rooms. Install new fiber from room 7L01 directly to the Core in room 2C17. Fiber is SM, 12 strand. 4. New/additional WLAN access points are to be mounted and patched by contractor. UW to provide access points, mounts, and patch cables. 5. Network switches will be configured, mounted, and patched in the new network cabinets. This work will be completed by the UW. Note that new cable installation maps from the contractor are required along with 1 to 2 days of task time for the UW team to activate the new drops (before old cabling can be removed). 6. Client and infrastructure devices will be switched from the old cable to the new cable. This will be done by the UW. 7. Remove old cabling, fiber, switches and racks/cabinets in Lockhart. The total number of cables to be removed in Lockhart is approximately 400+- from the following rooms; 5L27, 0L05A, 7L00, 4CM13A, and 3C11A. Cable installation maps are provided with this statement of work / RFP. Cable removal maps are not provided. UW cabling standards to be followed are provided in the tender documents.
