Site work and paving for a mixed-use development in Brimfield, Illinois. Completed plans call for site work for a playground / park / athletic field; for paving for a playground / park / athletic field; road / highway; road / highway; sidewalk / parking lot; water / sewer project; and sidewalk / parking lot.
Project Description: Project consists of realigning an existing drive from North Jackson Street to the existing parking lot, expansion of the existing parking lot and constructing a drive to West Brimfield-Jubilee Road. Work will include, but not necessarily be limited to, topsoil stripping, grading, subgrade preparation, storm sewer installation, electrical conduit installation, placement of granular subbase, placement of Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA) surfacing, Portland Cement Concrete (PCC) sidewalks in accordance with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements, parking lot striping, removal and installation of shot put and discus rings, and preliminary grading for a future practice baseball field. The base bid shall include subgrade core out per details in the plan for the quantity of 25 percent of the new HMA surfacing. The actual payment for the subgrade core out shall be measured during construction and paid for, or deducted, based on the unit price for Subgrade Core Out indicated in the Bid Form. Bids will be received as one lump sum for the entire project. Bid security shall be submitted with each bid in the amount of ten percent (10%) of the bid amount. No bids may be withdrawn for a period of sixty (60) days after opening of bids. Owner reserves the right to reject any and all bids and to waive informalities and irregularities. No Pre-Bid Conference is scheduled for this project. It is anticipated the Board of Education will be acting on the bid at the Wednesday, August 14th, 2024 school board meeting at 7:00 PM local time. Commencement of the work will begin as early as late August/early September 2024 pending the contractor's submittal of an executed contract along with the submittal of the required insurance certificate(s), bond(s), and any other miscellaneous documents. The work shall be substantially completed on or before November 14th, 2024. The Owner reserves the right to waive any irregularities and to accept any or reject all bids when in the opinion of the Owner, such action will serve the best interest of the Owner. The Contractor shall be completed (For Final Payment Application) no later than November 27th, 2024 for the project. Successful bidders must perform within the conditions of the contract documents, including, but not limited to, meeting the completion date identified in the Project Schedule. The Project Schedule, provided with the Bid Documents, is considered a Condition(s) of the Contract Documents.1. Subsequent to the award and within ten (10) days after the prescribed forms are prepared and presented for signature by the Engineer, the successful Contractor shall execute and return to the Engineer, an Agreement in the form included in the Contract Documents in such number of copies as the Owner may require. The submittal shall include the Performance Bond, Labor and Material Payment Bond and Insurance forms. 2. The Contractor's Base Bid shall include all costs for providing a single Performance Bond and Labor and Material Payment Bond in favor of the Owner, covering work of all trades and assigned Subcontractors. 3. Having satisfied all conditions of award as set forth elsewhere in these documents, the successful Contractor shall within the period specified above, furnish Surety Bonds in penal sums, each not less than the amount of the Contract as awarded, as security for the faithful performance of the Contract, and for the payment of all persons, firms or corporation to whom the Contractor may become legally indebted for labor, materials, tools, equipment or services of any nature including utility and transportation services, employed or used by him in performing the work. Such Bonds shall be in the same form as those included in the Contract Documents and shall bear the same date as, or a date subsequent to that of the Agreement. The current Power of Attorney for the person who signs for any Surety Company shall be attached to such Bonds. Bonds shall be signed by a Guaranty or Surety Company acceptable to the Owner. 4. The failure of the successful Bidders to execute such Agreement and to supply the required Bonds within ten (10) days after the prescribed forms as presented for signature, or within such extended period as the Owner may grant, based upon reasons determined sufficient by the Owner, may constitute a default. Bonds: The Undersigned agrees, if awarded the contract, to furnish and deliver to the Owner; Surety Performance Bond and a Labor and Materials Payment Bond, each in amount equal to One Hundred Percent (100%) of the contract amount. The premiums shall be paid by the Contractor.
