Demolition, site work, paving and new construction of a bridge / tunnel in Brimfield, Illinois. Design plans call for the demolition of a bridge / tunnel; for the construction of a bridge / tunnel; for site work for a bridge / tunnel; and for paving for a bridge / tunnel.
The existing structure (S.N. 072-4708) is a 64' single span concrete slab bridge. This bridge is required to have a posted load limit. It is structurally deficient and functionally obsolete with replacement recommended as soon as possible. The existing structure has a sufficiency rating of 35.7. The Bridge Fund up-fronts the township construction costs and is reimbursed 50% of the costs from the township upon completion of the project after all available Township Bridge Program Funds are utilized. This bridge is used every day, and its current condition makes it a hazard and potential liability. As of October 24, 2025, this project is in design. A general contractor has not been identified but this project is expected to go out to bid in the Spring of 2026. A firm construction timeline has not been established. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP).
