The City of Tempe’s transportation operations and signalization requires reliable communication to transmit data to allow staff to actively manage traffic conditions. The City of Tempe has 247 signalized intersections. Communications to the signals is via a system of fiber and radios. The communication components of the system are key to being able to remotely change signal timings and being able to see the intersections with CCTVs – which are key to its traffic management strategy. The signal device data and camera imaging need differing amounts of bandwidth to communicate between signals and back to the Transportation Management Center. This is a capital improvement project in the City of Tempe (AZ UTRACS Number T052101X). The project is listed in the amended FY2022-2025 MAG TIP as TMP24-260C and is funded with Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ) funds. The Scope of this Project is for the purchase and delivery of hardware. It does not include any installation. The City of Tempe is a Certified Acceptance (CA) agency. The procurement process is expected to occur between September 15 and November 1, 2024.
