The City of Elgin ("City") is seeking proposals from qualified firms to provide professional services for the development of an Active Mobility Plan (AMP) that will update the City's 2008 Bikeway Master Plan, and expand the scope of the plan to include all active modes of mobility and design for equity and inclusion of all residents, and identify transportation alternatives. This initiative will include performing a city-wide review and analysis of the City's current alternate transportation options. The goal is to determine opportunities and methods to connect more local destinations via bike paths, lanes and routes, create more opportunities for alternative forms of transportation (i.e., bike lanes, sidewalks, etc.) throughout the city, and review current traffic patterns and signalization locations to determine viability for improvement. There are synergies between the Park and Recreation Master Plan, the Bikeway Master Plan, and Sidewalk Gap & Transit Stop Study, and the Active Mobility Plan should be inclusive of these planning documents to form a cohesive strategy and approach.
