Purchase and delivery of Impervious Material, as specified in Attachment I-A. DEC is working collaboratively with the City of Binghamton (City) to restore an area of low levee crest approximately 2700 feet long and up to 1.5 -2.0 feet low, possibly due to historic levee settlement or poor construction practices along the existing multi-use trail on top of levee. This levee segment is part of the Binghamton flood protection project, northeast system, operated and maintained by New York State since the 1940s. DEC is providing the impervious (levee core) material for the City of Binghamton's contractor to place and compact the material to repair the levee. The City will then reinstall the trail above the levee at the proper elevation. Once completed, the repair will resolve a minimally acceptable rating from the most recent U.S. Army Corps of Engineers inspection of the flood control project. Not repairing the levee may lead to premature overtopping during a flood event.
