Site work for a water / sewer project in Simsbury, Connecticut. Completed plans call for site work for a water / sewer project.
The Town of Simsbury anticipates undertaking a project ("Project") that will involve the evaluation, analysis, development of design documents, permitting, bid document preparation, and construction inspection in associated with the Stoddard Dam Removal Project. This Request for Qualifications is for the solicitation of Engineering and Inspection Services for the Project. The Town of Simsbury (Town) recently completed investigation and alternatives assessment of the Stoddard Dam to either improve the dam to current standards or breach the dam and restore the stream channel. The work to date included inspection, survey, soil borings in core of the dam, and H&H Study. The selected alternative, No. 3, is included with this RFQ for reference. Stoddard Reservoir (41.8676, -72.8661) is a pond stocked and fished by the Simsbury Fish and Game Club. The existing dam spillway controls flow to a Stratton Brook that flows under West Mountain Road within 150 feet of the dam. The box culvert downstream of the dam was installed in 1986. The site is located in areas that are considered environmentally sensitive in regards to wetlands and habitat. We anticipate State and Federal permits may be required due to the proximity of the Project to the Base Flood Elevation and to areas designated as a FEMA Floodway. The Town of Simsbury reserves the right to accept or reject, without prejudice, any or all proposals or to waive any irregularities therein, or to accept the proposal deemed to be in the best interest ofTown of Simsbury. Question Deadline 09/04/2024 Questions regarding this RFQ should be directed to Adam Kessler, Deputy Town Engineer via email at akessler@simsbury-ct.gov
