The North Salt Spring Waterworks District (NSWWD) is seeking proposals from qualified vendors to provide services as outlined in this RFP for the excavation and replacement of approximately 56m of 150mm asbestos cement pipe with an equal distance of 200mm C-900 water main pipe; and for the install of a 15m section of 200mm C-900 watermain as outlined in the attached drawing. The Vesuvius Bay Road, Sunset Drive intersection is situated along the busy B.C Ferry route to Crofton. An alternate bypass route is not available along this corridor, thus work schedules will require adherence to Vesuvius Bay ferry departures/arrivals and will likely require nighttime work and/or alternating traffic mitigation to enable commercial transport and vehicular traffic flows. The NSSWD seeks the earthen replacement of a 56m section of aging 100mm asbestos cement watermain with 200mm C-900 PVC pipe and the installation of a 15m length of 200mm C-900 PVC pipe (location and length approximated). The 15m section will require a size-on-size hot tap valve insertion connection on the existing 200mm watermain. Additionally, a 50m section of 100mm asbestos cement pipe will be abandoned in place.
