Dam rehabilitation projects typically includes the construction of a crest wall on the embankment, demolition of the existing spillway slab, walls and outlet works, construction of new spillway infrastructure, and demolition of abandoned infrastructure. Projects being considered for the future include Walkers Dam Boat Lock Redesign and Walkers Dam Embankment Rehabilitation. The scope of work will include 1) site survey, wetlands delineation, geotechnical investigation, and engineering analyses; 2) development of design criteria and alternatives analysis for construction approach; 3) preparation of construction contract documents, including permitting; and 4) completion of associated construction work. Regulatory design requirements for this project may be dep endent on the hazard potential classification of the dam. This project is included in the City's 2025-2029 Capital Improvement Program (CIP). As of September 3, 2025, design is anticipated in 2026 and 2028 with construction in 2027 and 2029. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change.
