Site work and new construction of a fire / police facility in Abbotsford, British Columbia. Completed plans call for the construction of a 6,393-square-foot, three-story above grade fire / police facility; and for site work for a fire / police facility.
Fire Hall #6 is situated at 2427 West Railway Street in Abbotsford's historic downtown neighborhood. The site comprises three parcels sharing a single civic address, totaling 2,050 square meters. The existing building, constructed in 1969, is a three-story, purpose-built fire hall with a total area of 1,050 square meters. It includes four apparatus bays, office space, washrooms, a gym, and living quarters. The building has reached its end of life and requires replacement. Fire Hall #6 is the only composite fire hall within AFRS. Full-time firefighters provide 24/7 emergency response coverage, supported by a contingent of paid-on-call (POC) firefighters during structure fires, periods of high call volume, and major events. The new fire hall will be constructed on the same property and be built to current seismic and building codes to make it fully post-disaster compliant. Current firefighting operations at this facility will be relocated in coordination with this project.
