The purpose of this RFP is to obtain proposals from qualified companies for the design, manufacture, and full installation of a universally-accessible playground appropriate for children ages 2-12 at the Jefferson Park Neighborhood Center located at 405 York St. Lynchburg, VA 24501. BACKGROUND The City of Lynchburg is seeking to replace aging playground equipment at the Jefferson Park Neighborhood Center with a new urban play structure(s). SCOPE OF SERVICES General Description: The budget for this project is $150,000. The successful proposal will include all project design, equipment, placement of equipment, shipping charges, site considerations such as drainage, and full installation of equipment as described herein within the budgeted amount. The City will demo the existing playground and prepare the site. The City will provide and install engineered wood fiber surfacing after equipment installation. This project will consist of design, manufacture, and installation of a state of the art modular-type urban playground that must fit near the existing footprint (area approximately 5,000 square feet). Offerors may utilize available space near or around existing playground (see attached GIS site map; Jefferson Park Neighborhood Center Playground Aerial Image; Attachment A) The design of the structure(s) should align with stated goals in the adopted Master Plan. The selected Offeror shall provide exterior commercial grade, urban playground equipment that meets all current playground safety standards and certifications including CPSC #325 and the current ASTM F1487 playground standard. Equipment shall consist of metal and/or roto molded plastic components. Equipment shall include all material necessary to construct the playground. Site considerations: There is no minimum nor maximum number of play elements requested or required; however, the number may be considered as part of the playground's Design Value portion of the proposal evaluation. The maximum allowable fall height of any structure shall be no more than 8 feet. (with the full understanding that lead times for equipment and materials may have a negative impact on project timeline). The City reserves the right to accept or reject any or all proposals, to waive informalities, and to reissue any request for proposals and to award contracts to multiple Offerors. Any contract resulting from this Request for Proposal shall not be exclusive to the successful firm. The City reserves the right to contract with firms not party to the resultant contract for similar work if it determines this to be in their best interest.
