As of August 13, 2025, this project has been put on hold. A timeline for construction is unknown. The Williston Recreation & Parks Department is seeking an experienced contractor to perform detailed renovations and restoration work on the sports fields at Williston Central School fields. The Dept. plans on renovating the fields in late Fall of 2025, after the season. The fields are used by the school district baseball and softball teams. They are also used by adult leagues on a paid reservation basis. The 4-acre area consists of a baseball and softball field Both fields are adult-size fields, used by the school teams and adult leagues. Baseball Field o Provide new infield mix. o Widen base paths and realign bases to their proper location. Dept. to provide new bases. o Rebuild the existing pitching mound with clay bricks and infield mix. o Laser level the infield to promote drainage away from the field. o Remove and grade the existing lips along basepaths to provide a smooth transition from the infield to the sidelines. o Remove and grade the existing back lip of turf grass to provide a smooth transition from the infield to the outfield. o Removal of old sod can be disposed of on Dept. property. Location TBD. Softball Field o Provide new infield mix. o Skin the remaining of the infield to the backstop, and dugouts. Prepare the field so grass doesn't grow through the infield mix in the newly skinned areas. o Increase the infield/outfield line to the adult field specs. o Put in ground mounts for bases for adult specs. Quotes shall include the following elements, organized in the following order: o Costs per field, and a total cost for both fields. o A complete description of the materials to be used (type of sports grass seed, infield mix, fertilizer, and sod, if needed). o Type of machinery used to complete the outlined tasks. o Any recommendations from your company that would improve the condition of the fields or save costs.
