Demolition and site work for a residential development in Wasilla, Alaska. Working plans call for the demolition of a residential development; and for site work for a residential development.
**As of October 30 , 2024 bids received for this project were over the budget and was rejected. As of this time it is unknown if and when project will rebid. The Matanuska-Susitna Borough (MSB) has received court authorization to demolish the remaining fire-damaged structures and remove all debris from the property at the above address, while leaving the concrete foundation intact. No environmental report has been prepared for this property. 1. Utility Disconnection The contractor shall safely disconnect and coordinate the abandonment of all electric, telephone, and communication utilities with the respective providers. It is the contractor's responsibility to ensure utility services are properly terminated as needed. 2. Well and Septic Decommissioning The contractor shall decommission on-site wells and abandon any septic systems in compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal laws. The septic system must be capped to prevent any potential odor issues. 3. Debris Removal All structures, vehicles, and debris on the property must be removed and disposed of in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations. The contractor may only deconstruct, salvage, repurpose, or recycle materials in part but not in whole. Materials must be disposed of off-site. 4. Fencing and Miscellaneous Debris Removal All fences and miscellaneous debris must be removed, and the site must be free of any residential structures, vehicles, trailers, or equipment. The contractor is responsible for removing and disposing of abandoned vehicles, trailers, or equipment on the property. 5. Site Restoration Upon completion of demolition, the contractor shall ensure the site is flat, clean, and debris-free. The site must be backfilled and compacted to address any voids left by removing structures or utilities. The only element to remain is the concrete foundation. 6. Workmanship and Site Preservation All work must be performed in a clean, professional, and workmanlike manner. The contractor must also minimize disturbance to the site's vegetation. 7. Hazardous Materials No certified appraisals or environmental assessments have been conducted, including site or property photographs. No hazardous materials beyond typical household products were identified. If the contractor encounters hazardous or toxic materials, they must immediately cease work and notify MSB and the appropriate environmental authorities. 8. Final Inspection Upon project completion, the contractor must complete a Demolition Final Inspection worksheet (to be provided) and submit it to MSB. Questions or requests for clarification directed to any other member of the Borough staff other than Borough Purchasing, or consultants may be grounds for rejection of quote as being irregular, E-mail questions to Purchasing@matsugov.us. Work must commence within five (5) calendar days of the Notice-to-Proceed. Substantial project completion is required by October 21, 2024, with all final punch list items to be completed by October 25, 2024. Liquidated damages of $250 per day will be assessed for work completed after this deadline.
