Estimated Bid Value Two (2) as-needed contracts not-to-exceed $1 million each Project Duration 5 years Under the general supervision of the City Mayor or his designated representatives, Consultant shall provide quality assurance/quality control engineering (QA/QC) services by Task Orders on an hourly basis. The scope of work consists of the QA/QC services to provide independent and structured review of construction bid documents. These services will be provided according to City directions and in conformance with the professional standards of practice. Consultant shall comply with City Engineering drafting standards, as outlined in the City of San Diego's Manual of Preparation Land Development and Public Improvement Plans. Consultant shall check with Development Services Plan Check Section for amendments to the most recent version of the manual. Consultant shall perform independent and structured review of construction bid documents to make certain that the work requirements are clear, the documents are coordinated, and that the documents assist the construction contractor in bidding, construction, and project administration, resulting in reduced impacts to the project. Consultant shall review all construction bid documents to identify inconsistencies between plans and specifications, limitations of access for work to be conducted, compatibility of materials, coordination of trades, sequencing and project scheduling, and completeness of the bidding documents to ensure that they are sufficiently and clearly ready for the preparation of reasonable bids. It is important for constructability review to eliminate the risk of misinterpretation of contract documents which may lead to disagreement between the City and the construction contractor and that there are no omissions or discrepancies which may lead to extra work or claims against the City.
