Renovation of a clubhouse / community center in Richmond, Virginia. Completed plans call for the renovation of a 16,000-square-foot clubhouse / community center.

The City of Richmond is accepting bids for general contracting services for the Calhoun Community Center Renovations project. Renovation work will include, but not be limited to, miscellaneous alterations and finish improvements to the restrooms, kitchen, multipurpose rooms, offices and circulation spaces, and the gymnasium. The project consists of mechanical system upgrades and interior renovations of the approximately 16,000 square foot existing community center which will include, but not be limited to, the following: Improving the existing facility as required by the Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code, including the Virginia Existing Building Code. Renovations to bathrooms and other areas may be required to meet ADA requirements. Replacing interior finishes (wall, floor, ceiling). Replacing lighting fixtures and power distribution. Replacing/reworking the existing HVAC distribution ductwork and diffusers. Improving the existing swimming pool to bring it to current code and operating condition. Improvements shall include the pool shower/locker room. Replacing and/or repairing existing exterior building systems including windows, doors, masonry, and other exterior finishes such as roofing. Improving the building's main entrance to increase security through access controls. Any bidder submitting a bid for a construction Contracts in excess of $100,000 shall submit to the City a bid guarantee of not less than five percent (5%) of the bid amount set forth in item 14 of the Bid Form. Such security may be a certified check or a cashier's check or a Bid Bond made payable to the Owner. The Owner may require bidders submit bid security for lesser bid amounts, however, this will be so stated in the Invitation for Bid. For contracts with a value exceeding one hundred thousand dollars ($100,000), the Contractor shall deliver to the Owner or its designated representative a Performance Bond and a Labor and Material Payment Bond, each fully executed by the Contractor and one or more surety companies legally licensed to do business in Virginia and each in an amount equal to the sum of the contract amount. If more than one Surety executes a bond, each shall be jointly and severally liable to the Owner for the entire amount of the bond. Sureties shall be selected by the Contractor, subject to approval by the Owner. No payment on the Contract shall be due and payable to the Contractor until the bonds have been approved by the Owner and the Office of the City Attorney. The work shall be completed within 260 consecutive calendar days after the Notice to Proceed. The City of Richmond reserves the right to reject any and all bids.
