The North Tahoe Fire Protection District is seeking qualified archaeological consultants to conduct a comprehensive archaeological survey on 20.3 acres, including 8.3 acres of California Tahoe Conservancy land and 12 acres of privately owned land. The goal is to identify, record, and evaluate any cultural, archaeological, or historic resources within the project area and propose protection measures for an upcoming fuels reduction project. This project requires compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) and the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). Project Location: Along the Hwy 89 Corridor near Tahoe City, CA. The project area is characterized by Sierra mixed coniferous forest. Scope of Work: Conduct a full Class III archaeological survey. Review relevant records, including the California Historical Resources Information System (CHRIS). Consult with Native American tribes (as required). Prepare a comprehensive report detailing findings, significance evaluations, and recommended mitigation measures. This report must meet the standards for submission to the State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) and the lead agency for CEQA compliance. Provide detailed maps and GIS shapefiles.
