Renovation of a mixed-use development in Niles, Michigan. Completed plans call for the renovation of a theater / auditorium.
The purpose of this project is to functionally and aesthetically update the existing auditorium / pac at niles high school. Demolition includes, but is not limited to, removal of all existing seating, carpet, acoustical wall treatment, acoustical ceiling and wall tiles, corridor aluminum storefront and wood doors, concrete floor sawcutting, masonry block and brick removal, half height walls, suspended ceiling, drywall, lighting, electrical cabling and wiring and handrails. Improvements include, but are not limited to, relocating the sound booth to the main floor, converting old sound booth into storage room, provide all new seating with new layout, cmu block wall at corridor with 2-hour fire rating, 90-minute wood doors at corridor with hollow metal frames grouted full, 45- minute doors at new storage room with hollow metal frames grouted full, handrails, drywalling, light gauge metal framing, structural steel lintels & wall stiffeners, poured concrete, casework & counters, carpet tiles, acoustical ceiling and wall tiles, acoustical panels, decorative panels, painting, plastic laminate, resilient base, resilient covering treads & risers for stair, rubber nosing and transition strips, curtains & track, balcony front row outlets, aisle lighting, house lighting, stage lighting, video projection system and screens, video monitor system, video live stream & recording, audio console system, microphones, loud speakers and choir risers. ALTERNATE 1 Provide a new opening through the existing auditorium masonry wall that has direct access to outside for construction traffic purposes. ALTERNATE 2 Replace all new acoustical wall tiles on the back wall of the balcony with colored tile. ALTERNATE 3 Provide epoxy coating to the existing concrete floor of the auditorium A five percent (5%) Bid Bond shall accompany bids over $50,000.00. The successful bidder will be required to provide a Performance Bond, Labor and Material Bonds, and certificates of Liability and Worker's Compensation Insurance. OTHER CONDITIONS AND INFORMATION: 1. Each bid shall be accompanied by a sworn and notarized statement disclosing any familial relationship that exists between the owner or any employee of the bidder and any member of the Niles Community Schools board of education or the superintendent of the school district. 2. No bidder may withdraw their bid for a period of Thirty (30) calendar days after the date set for bid opening. 3. Public Act 517 of 2012 (effective December 31, 2012) enacted the "Iran Economic Sanctions Act", which prevents "Iran linked businesses" from bidding on a school district or ISD's request for proposals ("RFP"). This law requires that persons submitting bids certify that they are not an "Iran linked business," which is defined as either: a) A person engaging in investment activities in the energy sector of Iran, including a person that provides oil or liquefied natural gas tankers or products used to construct or maintain pipelines used to transport oil or liquefied natural gas for the energy sector of Iran; or b) A financial institution that extends credit to another person, if that person will use the credit to engage in investment activities in the energy sector of Iran. 4. This is a prevailing wage project. The awarded contractor will be required to pay not less than the current published rates. 5. Niles Community Schools reserves the right to reject any or all bids, to waive any defects or irregularities in bids, and to accept any bid which is deemed most advantageous to the public interest.
