Site work and paving for a civil project in Adel, Iowa. Completed plans call for site work for a bridge / tunnel; for paving for a bridge / tunnel; road / highway; road / highway; and water / sewer project.

The work includes all materials, equipment, transportation, and labor necessary to complete the improvements. The proposed project includes 11,548 SY of full depth reclamation, 13,851 SY 6" PCC pavement for shared use path, 135 LF of storm sewer pipe (12 inch to 24 inch), 97 SY of 8" PCC Pavement, 333.6 STA of shoulder finishing for shared use path, traffic control, and erosion control. Bridge repair items include 12,556 LB of reinforcing steel, 4,400 LB of structural steel, 3.02 MFBM of treated timber and lumber, 114 tons of Class E revetment, 572 LF of vinyl coated chain link fence, 3 EA of Type A timber pipe repair, 6 EA of Type B timber pile repair, 53.8 CY of structural concrete, and 1,619 SF of 1.5" galvanized steel decking and other miscellaneous work. Est. Value: $ 1,645,200.00 Site Directions: The project is from Brickyard Drive east to S 18th Street, and Raccoon River east to R Avenue on existing RRVT trail within City of Adel and County right-of-way in Dallas County, Iowa. Each bidder shall accompany its bid with bid security as defined in Iowa Code Section 26.8, as security that the successful bidder will enter into a contract for the work bid upon and will furnish after the award of contract a corporate surety bond, in a form acceptable to the Jurisdiction, for the faithful performance of the contract, in an amount equal to 100% of the amount of the contract. The bidder's security shall be in the amount fixed in the Instruction to Bidders and shall be in the form of a cashier's check or a certified check drawn on an FDIC insured bank in Iowa or on an FDIC insured bank chartered under the laws of the United States; or a certified share draft drawn on a credit union in Iowa or chartered under the laws of the United States; or a bid bond on the form provided in the contract documents with corporate surety satisfactory to the Jurisdiction. The bid shall contain no condition except as provided in the specifications. Time for Commencement and Completion of Work. Work on the improvements shall commence any time after a written Notice to Proceed is issued, no later than May 5, 2025, and shall be completed as stated below. The Notice to Proceed will be issued after the preconstruction conference, which is expected to occur in February 2025. The Contractor shall substantially complete the overall project within one hundred ten (110) working days. Free winter work per section 1108 of the Iowa DOT Specifications for Highway and Bridge Construction, series 2024 will be allowed. Working days will be charged for all work beginning April 1, 2025 per section 1108. For this project, substantial completion for the overall project shall be defined as all utility, grading, backfill, topsoil, finish grading, trail head parking lot, trail pedestrian bridges, and trail work completed with the streets, driveways, and trails fully open to traffic. Should the Contractor fail to substantially complete the work within this timeframe, liquidated damages of Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00) per calendar day will be assessed for the work not completed within the designated Contract term(s). Each successful bidder will be required to furnish a corporate surety bond in an amount equal to 100% of its contract price. Said bond shall be issued by a responsible surety approved by Dallas County Conservation Board and shall guarantee the faithful performance of the contract and the terms and conditions therein contained and shall guarantee the prompt payment of all material and labor, and protect and save harmless the Dallas County Conservation Board from claims and damages of any kind caused by the operations of the contract and shall also guarantee the maintenance of the improvement caused by failures in materials and construction for a period of two years from and after acceptance of the contract. The guaranteed maintenance period for all new paving shall be four years. The Dallas County Conservation Board reserves the right to reject any and all bids. The Dallas County Conservation Board reserves the right to defer acceptance of any bid for a period of sixty (60) calendar days after receipt of bids and no bid may be withdrawn during this period.
