The Project is in the final and largest stage of the revitalization involving the main floor Newsroom and various second floor areas at 181 Queen Street. The newly renovated facility will cater to CBCs operational requirements and must meet current industry, regulatory, and safety standards. Please see attached RFPQ for further details. Installation / removal of hard and soft hoarding walls for noise and dust control before renovation of the various areas; phasing of work to maintain adjacent spaces operational and to meet regulatory requirements; performance of work at night and on weekends to accommodate media production schedules; selected demolition of various identified areas including ceilings and building systems; installation of new and renovated partitions and finishes throughout; acoustic treatments and improvements; Newsroom, production, kitchen, make-up, and first-aid spaces; replacement / upgrade and relocation of mechanical equipment and building systems including plumbing, HVAC, and sprinkler; replacement / upgrade of electrical equipment including UPS and generator power distribution; security upgrades in main foyer and CBC internal spaces; and no significant changes to the exterior of the building on either the Queen Street or Sparks Street sides. The anticipated construction budget for this project is approximately $7M including overhead and profit but excluding owner supplied items, contingency or taxes.
