The Project shall be known as the 2025 Elementary School Playground Equipment and Surface Improvements, Ames Community School District, Ames, Iowa. The Project shall be broken up into Bid Package #1 and Bid Package #2 BID PACKAGE #1 - PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT/DEMOLITION/INSTALLATION Playground improvements for Sawyer Elementary, Fellows Elementary and Mitchell Elementary include removal of existing playground equipment to be removed and associated footings. Providing and installing new playground equipment and associated footings. All other scope items required to complete the Project will fall under Bid Package #2 Scope of Work. BID PACKAGE #2 - GENERAL TRADES, INCLUDING DEMOLITION/STORM WATER IMPROVEMENTS/PAVEMENT & POURED-IN-PLACE PLAYGROUND SURFACING SAWYER ELEMENTARY - Playground improvements project includes removal of existing engineered hardwood mulch and associated subdrain system, PCC edging, and pavements. Installation of new subdrain system, PCC pavement, poured-in-place playground surfacing, storm sewer, surface restoration and associated work necessary for a complete and operational playground. FELLOWS ELEMENTARY - Playground improvements project includes removal of existing engineered hardwood mulch and associated subdrain system, timber retaining wall, granular surface, and pavements. Installation of new subdrain system, PCC pavement, poured-in-place playground surfacing, storm sewer, synthetic turf area, surface restoration and associated work necessary for a complete and operational playground. MITCHELL ELEMENTARY - Playground improvements project includes removal of existing engineered hardwood mulch and associated subdrain system, PCC edging, and pavements. Installation of new subdrain system, PCC pavement, poured-in-place playground surfacing, storm sewer, open shade structure, fencing, surface restoration and associated work necessary for a complete and operational playground. Construction to begin after receipt of signed contract and approximately June 2, 2025. Substantial Completion Date July 31, 2025, and Final Completion Date August 15, 2025. Bid Security in the amount of 5% of the bid in the form of a Bid Bond on form AIA A310, cashier's check, certified share draft or certified check drawn on an Iowa bank or credit union chartered under the laws of the United States shall accompany each bid in a separate, sealed envelope. Bid Security shall be payable to Ames Community School District. Upon award of a contract, the successful Contractor will be required to furnish a Performance and Payment Bond equal to 100% of the awarded Contract amount, and within the time set forth within the Contract Documents. The Contractor shall also furnish a copy of its Certificate(s) of Insurance showing coverage is being provided consistent with that stated within the Project Manual. However, the Owner reserves the right to reject any or all bids, or any part thereof, and to waive informalities, and to enter into such contract deemed to be in the best interests of the Ames Community School District.
