Plans call to reconnect a neighborhood that has been divided by freeway infrastructure; Create new park space in a neighborhood that has insufficient access to parks and open space; Address environmental justice through a carbon capturing landscape design, creating a buffer between the freeway and vehicle emissions; and Provide safe, alternative transportation options by adding a bike lane and pedestrian pathway. Project is included in City of Long Beach's Fiscal Year 2025-2027 Capital Improvement Program (CIP). Per the owner, as of December 26, 2024, grant agreements are being executed for the design phase. Owner states that it will be perhaps one to two years before they are ready to bid this project. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly.
