Site work and paving for a mixed-use development in Appleton, Wisconsin. Completed plans call for site work for a road / highway; for paving for a road / highway; sidewalk / parking lot; sidewalk / parking lot; and water / sewer project.
Concrete Paving No bid shall be received unless accompanied by a bid bond (uploaded electronically during bid process) equal to five percent of the bid, payable to the City as a guarantee that if the bid is accepted, the bidder will execute and file the proper contract and bond within 10 days from the date the lowest responsible bidder's bid is accepted. If the bidder fails to file such contract and bond within the time set by the City, the bid bond shall be forfeited to the City as liquidated damages. Specific construction sequence requirements for each street, as detailed later in these special provisions and on the plans, shall take precedence over the following general requirements. Reconstruction 1. City will establish baseline/reference line and provide the contractor with cut sheets. The contractor shall not commence with any work on the street until they have been provided the cut sheets. 2. Contractor shall remove existing pavement, existing sidewalk (where applicable), excavate to subgrade, place geogrid, and place crushed stone base. 3. City will provide line and grade stakes along both sides of the street for contractor to build proposed pavement/curb and gutter. It shall be the responsibility of the contractor to establish all other grades from these stakes. (i.e. centerline, intermediate grades) Once the contractor has completed the excavation and graveling work, the city survey crew shall have 48 hours to complete the staking for mainline pavement/curb and gutter and the development of the cut sheets. The contractor shall not begin the mainline setup work until the mainline cut sheets have been provided by the city's survey crew. 4. Contractor will construct proposed pavement. The contractor shall note that additional sidewalk may be marked for removal after the new curb and gutter has been installed due to grade issues with relation to the new pavement. 5. Contractor will construct proposed sidewalk. New Construction 1. The city will provide line and grade stakes along both sides of the street. The contractor shall not commence with any work until the City has provided cut sheets. It shall be the contractor's responsibility to establish all other grades from these stakes. 2. The contractor shall remove existing asphalt pavement and fine grade the existing stone base. Existing sidewalks shall not be disturbed at this time. 3. The contractor shall construct proposed pavement, one half at a time. 4. Once pavement has been constructed, the city will mark sidewalks for removal and replacement. 5. Contractor shall install new driveway aprons, new sidewalks, and remove and replace any existing sidewalks as marked in the field. The contractor should anticipate a starting date of April 28, 2025 - completion date of September 12, 2025
