Site work and paving for a mixed-use development in West Des Moines, Iowa. Completed plans call for site work for a road / highway; for paving for a road / highway; sidewalk / parking lot; sidewalk / parking lot; and water / sewer project.

The project involves removing and reconstructing Giles Street, from Valley West Drive to just west of 32nd Street. The existing roadway pavement will be removed and replaced with PCC pavement, which will include the preparation of subbase material. Storm sewer piping will be added, storm sewer structures will be replaced and added, and watermain will be updated under a portion of the project corridor. Sanitary Sewer services along Giles Street will be replaced on an as needed basis. Affected driveway approaches will be replaced, all sidewalk will be replaced, and sidewalk curb ramps will be modified to be ADA compliant. The project also includes surface restoration, traffic control and other related work. All bids shall be made on the form furnished by the City through wdm.ionwave.net and shall be filed on or before the time specified above. Each proposal shall be electronically accompanied by a scanned copy of the bid bond, or a scanned copy of a cashier's or certified check drawn on an Iowa bank or a bank chartered under the laws of the United States in an amount equal to ten percent (10%) of the total amount of the bid. If a bid bond is submitted, it must be on the form provided with the contract documents. A physical copy of the bid security will be required to be submitted to the City Clerk's Office by the apparent low bidder within 48 hours of the bid deadline. The successful bidder will be required to furnish a performance and payment bond in the amount of one hundred percent (100%) of the contract price guaranteeing faithful performance of the contract and guaranteeing payment to all persons supplying labor and/or materials in the execution of the work provided for in the contract. Additionally, the contractor must provide the City with a guarantee of maintenance of said improvement in the form of surety for a period of four (4) years from the time of acceptance by the City. Work on said project shall commence within ten (10) days of the written notice to proceed and shall be completed by September 30, 2024. Liquidated damages in the amount of five hundred dollars ($500.00) per day will be assessed for each day that the work remains uncompleted after the end of the contract period. The City reserves the right to reject any and/or all bids and to waive any and/or all technicalities and/or all irregularities.
