DESCRIPTION OF WORK: Construct approximately 2,405 feet of 10-inch diameter sewer and 545 feet of 8-inchdiameter sewer with manholes, pipe connections, and surface feature restoration. The work also includes the replacement of approximately 900 feet of asphalt walking path and other items, as indicated in the bid documents. LOCATION OF WORK: The work is located near 5500 South 700 East, South Ogden City. COMPLETION OF WORK: All work specified in the contract documents shall be completed by June 13, 2025. BID SECURITY: Each bid shall be accompanied by a certified check, cashier s check, or bid bond in the amount of five percent of the total bid price, made payable to South Ogden City Corporation as a guarantee that the bidder, if his bid is accepted, will secure insurance, performance, and payment bonds, and promptly execute the Contract. PROJECT ADMINISTRATION: All questions concerning this project shall be directed to the Project Engineer. OWNER S RIGHTS RESERVED: South Ogden City reserves the right to reject any or all bids, to waive any informality in a bid, and to make awards in the interest of the City. Bid Item 1 - Mobilization and Traffic Control: Measurement shall be by lump sum. Payment will be made according to the percentage of the total contract work completed (i.e., 50% paid when 50% of the work is completed). Payment includes the following work and items: A. Secure permits, bonds, and insurance; B. Move equipment and personnel to and from the job site; C. Provide traffic control barricades, signs, and devices; and D. Complete all other miscellaneous responsibilities and operations not generally attributed to any other single bid item. Bid Item 2 - Clearing and Grubbing: Measurement shall be by lump sum. Payment shall be full compensation for all labor, materials, and equipment necessary to clear and grub vegetation and topsoil from the sewer and trail excavation areas. Payment includes the following work and items: A. Locate and protect existing utilities; B. Clear and grub vegetation from the sewer and trail excavation area; C. Segregate and stockpile topsoil for reuse and restoration; D. Remove and dispose of unsuitable and deleterious materials; E. Haul unsuitable materials grubbed from the site to a legal disposal or recycling location; F. Provide dust control and cleanup; and G. Complete all other labor, materials, and equipment necessary to clear, grub, and remove unsuitable materials from the area within the construction limits. Bid Item 3 Remove Existing Tree: Measurement shall be per each. Payment shall be full compensation for all labor, materials, and equipment necessary to remove existing trees from the work area. Payment includes the following work and items: A. Locate and protect existing utilities and surrounding improvements; B. Remove indicated trees, including large roots, trunk, and canopy; C. Haul all wood and waste materials to a legal disposal or recycling location; D. Provide cleanup; and E. Complete all other labor and tasks necessary for tree removal. Bid Item 4 - Remove Existing Asphalt Trail: Measurement shall be per square yard. Payment shall be total compensation for all the labor, equipment, and materials to remove the existing asphalt trail pavement. Payment shall include the following work and items: A. Remove and dispose of asphalt pavement (approximately 3 inches thick); B. Remove the road base to a depth of approximately 6 inches; C. Provide cleanup; and D. Complete all other appurtenant activities and tasks necessary to complete the work indicated. Bid Item 5 - Remove Scoreboard Sign: Measurement shall be per each. Payment shall be total compensation for all the labor, equipment, and materials to remove the existing sign. Payment shall include the following work and items: A. Remove and dispose of the sign and base; B. Coordinate disconnection of the power supply with South Ogden City Public Works; C. Provide cleanup; and D. Complete all other appurtenant activities and tasks necessary to complete the work indicated. Bid Item 6 - Remove Existing Manhole - Near Sta. 25+05: Measurement shall be by lump sum. Payment shall be total compensation for all the labor, equipment, and materials to remove the existing manhole. Payment shall include the following work and items: A. Schedule removal to minimize by-pass pumping and risk of overflows; B. Excavate and remove the concrete manhole, cover, and lid; C. Provide cleanup; and D. Complete all other appurtenant activities and tasks necessary to complete the work indicated. Bid Item 7 -8" Dia. PVC SDR 35 Sewer Pipe: Bid Item 8 -10" Dia. PVC SDR 35 Sewer Pipe: Measurement shall be by lineal foot. Measurement for pipe will begin and end at the centers of the connecting structures or connections to existing pipes. Payment shall be total compensation for all the labor, equipment, and materials required to install sewer pipe. Payment includes the following work and items: A. Locate, pothole, and protect existing utilities; B. Excavate for pipe installation (excavation includes the removal of all pavement and surface features that are not specifically called out as payment items); C. Install the pipe with pipe bedding; D. Place and compact backfill (native soils or import granular backfill borrow); E. Restore existing utilities if damaged by construction; F. Remove and dispose of unsuitable and excess soils and excavated materials; G. Provide dust control and daily cleanup; and H. Complete all other necessary appurtenant activities and tasks to construct the sewer pipe. Bid Item 9 - Sewer Cleaning and Video Inspection: Measurement shall be per lineal feet. Payment shall be full compensation for all labor, materials, and equipment required to clean and video inspect the gravity sewer line. Payment Includes the following items tasks: A. Clean the sewer; B. Video inspect the sewer and log any deficiency or concern; C. Provide a digital copy and a written log of the inspection to the Engineer; and D. Complete all other items and operations necessary for cleaning and video inspecting the sewer. Note: This item may be applied to the existing and newly constructed sewer as requested by Ogden City. Bid Item 10 - 4' Dia. Sewer Manhole: Bid Item 11 - 5' Dia. Sewer Manhole: Measurement shall be per each. Payment shall be full compensation for all labor, materials, and equipment necessary to furnish and install the sewer manholes. Payment includes the following work and items: A. Locate and protect existing utilities; B. Excavate, prepare subgrade, and install the aggregate base foundation; C. Install precast concrete bases and sections; D. Complete concrete bases with troughs for doghouse manholes; E. Complete pipe connections with pipe boots and grout; F. Install lids, rings, covers, and grade rings; G. Place and compact backfill material; H. Make final grade adjustments to rings and lids; I. Construct concrete collars; J. Properly dispose of excess and unsuitable materials; K. Provide dust control and cleanup; and L. Complete all other necessary appurtenant activities and tasks to complete the manhole structures. Bid Item 12 - Connect Existing Sewers to New Manhole - Sta. 1+00: Bid Item 13 - Connect to Existing Manhole - Friendship Park Entry: Bid Item 14 - Connect to Existing Manhole - Sta. 28+25: Bid Item 15 - Connect Sewers to New Manhole - Sta. 25+05: Bid Item 16 - Connect Existing Sewer to New Manhole - East of Sta. 25+05 on 5500 South: Bid Item 17 - Connect Existing Sewers to New Sewer - South of Sta. 25+05 on 700 East: Measurement shall be per each. Payment shall be full compensation for all labor, materials, and equipment necessary to complete the connections to existing sewer facilities. Payment includes the following work and items: A. Develop a work plan that completes the pipe connections with a minimum of by-pass pumping and a minimum risk of overflows; B. Excavate to expose the sewer connection location; C. Provide by-pass pumping as needed for installation of manholes on existing sewers, connections of existing pipes to new manholes, and sewer pipe to pipe connections; D. Provide temporary connections, fittings, and plugs as required; E. Core cut existing manholes for new pipe connections; F. Complete manhole connections by securing the pipe with a boot and/or grout; G. Complete pipe to pipe connections with Fernco-type pipe connectors; H. Place and compact backfill material; I. Remove and replace concrete collars on existing manholes as needed; J. Properly dispose of excess and waste materials; K. Provide dust control and cleanup; and L. Complete all other necessary appurtenant activities and tasks to complete connections to existing sewer facilities. Bid Item 18 - Connect Existing 4-inch Dia. Sewer Services: Measurement shall be per each. Payment shall be full compensation for all labor, materials, and equipment necessary to complete the sewer service connections. Payment includes the following work and items: A. Pothole to locate the existing sewer service locations and elevations; B. Coordinate with homeowners for disruptions to sewer service; C. Install wye connections in the new sewer pipe; D. Complete connections with short sections of 4" dia. PVC pipe, fittings, and a fernco-type connection to the existing sewer service pipe; E. Place and compact backfill material; and F. Complete all other necessary appurtenant activities and tasks to complete the manhole pipe connections. Bid Item 19 - Plug End of Abandoned Sewer: Measurement shall be per each. Payment shall be full compensation for all labor, materials, and equipment necessary to complete the sewer plug at the manhole. Payment includes the following work and items: A. Coordinate abandonment with South Ogden City following the connection of the replacement sewer; B. Install an 8" plug consisting of either concrete or a mechanical plug; C. Complete all other necessary appurtenant activities and tasks to complete the sewer plug at the manhole connection.
