Introduction The Rock Island Fire Department is seeking qualified contractors to submit proposals for the renovation of an existing restroom and neighboring storage closet at Fire Station #4. This project is intended to convert the existing space into a functional shower room. The project is being undertaken in support of an application to the Office of the Illinois State Fire Marshal's Fire Station Rehabilitation and Construction Grant Program. 2. Project Scope o Scope of Work: o Demolish and remove existing fixtures, finishes, and partitions in the designated restroom and storage closet. o Construct a new shower room, including: o Installation of a shower stall with appropriate fixtures (showerhead, drain, etc.) o Installation of new flooring, walls, and ceilings. o Installation of new plumbing and electrical systems. o Installation of ADA-compliant features, if feasible. o Ensure the new shower room meets all applicable building codes and safety regulations. o Project Budget: o Project budget should include, but not be limited to: o Architectural and Engineering Fees o Project Inspection Fees o Site Work o Demolition and Removal o Construction Costs (materials and labor) o Miscellaneous Fees (permits, insurance, etc.) o Drawings: o All proposals must include a basic drawing or sketch illustrating the proposed layout and design of the new shower room. 3. Project Schedule o Project Timeline: o The project timeline will be determined in consultation with the selected contractor and will be subject to the availability of grant funding. 4. Contractor Qualifications o Contractors must be licensed and insured to perform the work described in this RFQ. o Contractors must demonstrate experience in similar construction projects, preferably within the context of public buildings. o References from previous clients will be required. 5. Submission Requirements o Proposals must include: o A detailed scope of work. o A comprehensive project budget. o A proposed project schedule. o A basic drawing or sketch of the proposed shower room layout. Prevailing Wage The contractor shall pay and require every Subcontractor to pay prevailing wages as established by the Illinois Department of Labor for each craft or type of work needed to execute the contract following 820 ILCS 130/.01 et seq. Any increases in costs to the Contractor due to changes in the prevailing rate of wage during the terms of any contract shall be at the expense of the Contractor and not at the expense of the City. The change order shall be computed using the prevailing wage rates applicable at the time the change order work is scheduled to be performed. The Contractor shall be solely responsible for maintaining accurate records as required by the prevailing wage statute and for obtaining and furnishing all such certified records to the Illinois Department of Labor as and when required by statute. The Contractor agrees that before making any payments to its laborers, workers, mechanics or any subcontractor it will determine and pay the then-current prevailing rate of wage as determined by the Illinois Department of Labor and posted at website.
