Site work and renovation of a civil project in Laurel, Maryland. Completed plans call for site work for a water / sewer project; and for the renovation of a water / sewer project.
The Work includes the following major items: Replacement of existing sewage pumps and associated piping. Replacement of existing suction and discharge isolation valves. Replacement of existing check valves. Replacement of electrical equipment indicated. Replacement of dry well ventilation system. Replacement of stairs and platform. Replacement of wet well level transducer system. Installation of a new prefabricated electrical building. Wet well protective coating application. Demolition of various equipment and materials in order to conduct new work. Bypass pumping to allow performance of the work. "See Notice to Contractors for the pre-bid meeting information" "Prevailing Wage Eligible" The cost range for the Project is: above $3,000,000.00. Each bid must be accompanied by a certified check or bid bond acceptable to the County for five percent (5%) of the amount of the bid, payable to Anne Arundel County, Maryland; and unless so accompanied, the bid will not be considered. The check or bid bond will be forfeited to the County as liquidated damages in case the contract, performance bond, and labor and materials bonds are not executed within ten (10) days after receiving the contract for execution. Liquidated damages shall be $1,850.00 dollars per calendar day. The County's prevailing wage and local hiring laws, as found at 8-2-115 and 8-2-116, as amended of the County Code, and the State of Maryland's prevailing wage laws, apply to certain capital improvement contracts and capital projects. See also Anne Arundel County Council Bill 72-21, as amended. To the extent applicable, the County's prevailing wage requirements are enumerated in the "Prevailing Wage Requirements for Capital Improvement Contracts Addendum to the General Conditions of Contract between County and Contractor" and apply to the Work. If applicable to this Contract, the Addendum will be attached to the contract, and will be incorporated herein by reference, and made a part thereof. The Contractor and its subcontractors must comply with all of the auditing, reporting requirements of the law on an ongoing basis or will be subject to penalties, including, but not limited to liquidated damages claims from both improperly paid employees of the Contractor and its subcontractors and the County. The County reserves the right to award or not award any or all of the Alternates, if it is in the County's best interest.
