Site work and paving for a civil project in Nichols, New York. Conceptual plans call for site work for a road / highway; for paving for a road / highway; water / sewer project; bridge / tunnel; and bridge / tunnel.
This project resurfaces 4.2 centerline miles or I86 from the bridge over Pumpelly Creek in the village of Owego to the bridge over Marshland Road in the town of Owego, Tioga County. Additional work includes new guide railing and MIARD (Milled-In Audible Roadway Delineators) installation, drainage upgrades and ground-mounted sign structure upgrades. NYSDOT Region: 09 Southern Tier Construction is expected to be completed in Fall 2028. As of October 15, 2025, the project is in Conceptual status. Anticipated letting Year is 2026. NYDOT : I86 Crack & Seat, Owego to Apalachin *Project information has been obtained through a public state transportation improvement plan (STIP). A STIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the STIP often evolves based on funding availability.
