Reference Number : 0000374782 The Town of Tiverton, Rhode Island is seeking proposals from qualified contractors to design, fabricate, and install a handicapped accessible walkway, replacement doors, lighting, and heated walkway for the Tiverton Town Hall. The goal of this project is to ensure compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) while maintaining the building's historic character. The selected contractor will be responsible for the removal of existing structures, installation of new components, and completion of the necessary electrical and heating systems. Project Scope of Work The contractor will be responsible for the following tasks: 1. Handicapped Accessible Walkway: o Design and construction of a new walkway that is fully ADA-compliant, ensuring proper slope, width, and surface. o Walkway materials should be chosen to blend with the historic look of the building while being durable, non-slip, and easy to maintain. 2. Door Replacement: o Removal of existing entrance doors and installation of new automatic or power-assisted doors that comply with ADA standards. o Doors should be designed to preserve the historic character of the Town Hall and provide adequate weather resistance and energy efficiency. 3. Lighting: o Installation of energy-efficient LED lighting along the walkway and near the entrance to ensure proper illumination for safety. o Lighting fixtures should complement the building's aesthetic and be vandal resistant. 4. Heated Walkway: o Installation of an electric or hydronic heated system within the walkway to prevent snow and ice accumulation during winter months. o Ensure that the heating system is energy-efficient and controlled through a thermostat or automated system. 5. Site Preparation: o Removal of existing paving, concrete, and other materials as necessary. o Excavation, grading, and proper drainage considerations to ensure the longevity of the walkway. 6. Additional Requirements: o Provide all necessary permits and inspections for construction, electrical, and heating work. IV. Proposal Submission Requirements Proposals should include, but are not limited to, the following information: 1. Company Information: o Name of the company, contact person, address, and phone number. o Brief company history, including experience with similar projects. 2. Project Approach: o A detailed description of how the contractor plans to approach the project, including design, materials, and construction methods. o A timeline for completing the project, from initial design to final inspection. 3. Qualifications: o Proof of licensure, bonding, and insurance. o Examples of previous projects similar in scope and complexity, particularly those involving historic properties and ADA compliance. 4. Cost Proposal: o A detailed breakdown of the costs for each component of the project (walkway, doors, lighting, heated system, site preparation, etc.). o A total cost estimate, including labor, materials, equipment, permits, and any other applicable fees. 5. Timeline: o Estimated start and completion dates for the project. o Phases of the project and expected completion for each phase. 6.
