Site work for a water / sewer project in Dunedin, Florida. Completed plans call for site work for a water / sewer project.

The Contractor shall supply all supervision, labor, equipment, materials and incidentals necessary to perform the work as described in the specifications. The City's Water Division requires the removal of well pumps on an occasional basis. Generally, the pumps are malfunctioning and require repair or replacement. Once the pumps are removed, City Water Division staff will determine whether they wish to repair or replace the pump. The awarded Contractor will re-install the pump once it has been repaired or replaced. All Prospective Bidders/respondents Are Hereby Cautioned Not to Contact Any Member of the City of Dunedin Staff or Officials Other Than the Specified Contact Person. The City of Dunedin reserves the right to accept such bids/proposals, as are in the best interests of the City, to waive informalities, or to reject any oral bids/proposals. Bids/proposals which are incomplete or which are not submitted in accordance with the instructions may be disqualified. Generally, this work will require a gap in time between the removal of the pump and the re-installation of the repaired or replacement pump. The Contractor may invoice the City for the removal of the pump once that has been completed. After the Contractor has reinstalled the repaired or replacement pump, the Contractor may invoice the City for that portion of the work. Removal: The removal of the pump and other equipment will require the following work. 2.1.1 Mobilize at the well site to remove pump, motor and lay flat, 4 lead cables. 2.1.2 Remove bolts attaching surface plate to borehole and to discharge piping. 2.1.3 Remove piping assembly in individual lengths or as a portion of the entire assembly; whichever your equipment permits or is desirable for safe handling. The drop pipe in the well may be full of water. Contractor is responsible for controlling release of such water in a safe manor to prevent damage to well house structure and electrical equipment. 2.1.3 All piping materials will be reused unless there is obvious damage. The City will pay for any replacement piping material. 2.1.4 Lockout/tag-out procedure shall be used at the site following OSHA regulation. The City will provide a designated contact to access electrical service. 2.1.5 Demobilize from the site. Installation: Re-installing the pump and other material will require the following work. 2.2.1 Mobilize at the site. 2.2.2 Provide materials to splice pigtail supplied on the Franklin motor to AWG flat lay cable. Splice must meet minimal specifications as dictated by Franklin Electric "AIM" Manual as seen on "Franklin Electric's" website. 2.2.2 Conduct megger test of motor/lead after splice prior to pump installation. Megger readings must comply with those dictated by Franklin Electric, also available in "AIM". In addition, conduct megger test after the installation and prior to connection at overloads. 2.2.3 ONLY 304 or 316 stainless steel fasteners where required are permitted. This includes motor to pump bolts, cable clamps for safety cable and setscrews for pipe couplings and any hardware used for attaching electrical cable to drop pipe. 2.2.4 Install new electrical flat-lay cable (provided by the City) and reinstall safety cable between pump end and surface plate using two cable clamps on each end. Lay flat cable must be attached to drop pipe at no less than five foot intervals with slack removed. 2.2.5 Pipe couplings and pipe must be cleaned to ensure smooth, tight fit upon refitting of each pipe length. 2.2.6 Certa-Lok pipe must be cleaned prior to re-installation. 2.2.7 Stainless steel fittings at check valve (if applicable), pump end and surface plate shall be countersunk to accommodate setscrew installation. Additionally, semi-permanent thread locking compound shall be used at these setscrew locations. 2.2.8 Apply load to pipe assembly after installing connector splines and prior to tightening setscrews to torque specified by manufacturer of CertaLok products. 2.2.9 Electrical connections inside junction box shall be made with NEW, insulated wire connectors OR NEW split bolts with appropriate rubber tape and electrical tape application. 2.2.10 Demobilize from the site.
