Loudon Utilities (LUB) is seeking to contract out the backflow prevention device testing for 2025 with a potential to renew twice. Each renewal would be a 1-year term. Testing would begin in June 2025 for the irrigation devices and continue until all devices are tested by the end of the year. All testers must be certified. The following devices need tested: - 150 domestic/commercial devices - 220 irrigation devices - 3 LUB fire devices - In addition, devices are added to the water system as needed. Other than the LUB fire devices, devices used on fire protection water lines are excluded because tests are required to be completed externally and reported to Loudon Utilities. Some customers choose to have their device tested by a tester of their choice, but these reports are due to Loudon Utilities by June 1st. All devices that have not been tested by June 1st are then the responsibility of the testing contractor Loudon Utilities awards, and are included in the numbers above. Testers will be required to submit test reports in SAMS software, which has web and app versions. A document showing the steps for the submittals and a software demo can be shown upon request.
