RFP-24-25-077-Directional Boring and Horizontal Drilling Contact Person: Carol Henley Purchasing Director 427 Patton Street Danville, VA 24541 Phone : 434-799-6528 Option 4 Fax: 434-799-5102 E-Mail: purchasing@danvilleva.gov The City of Danville Utilities Department - Division of Power and Light is seeking proposals for specialized Directional Boring and Horizontal Drilling services in support of the City of Danville and Pittsylvania County projects within the Danville Utilities service area. The intent of this proposal is to acquire a licensed contractor to perform tasks the City is not equipped to conduct, with established pricing for such tasks. Contract term will be for one year with the option to renew for four additional one year periods. All price increases will be reviewed annually and must be approved by the Ciity prior the beginning of the renewal period e Consultant may be required to provide various services from time to time including, but not limited to the following: o Drilling under streets and main thoroughfares o Drilling parallel to roads and along urban landscapes o Drilling into existing utility vaults, and crossing existing utilities o Drilling under Railroads Duties and responsibilities shall include: o Attending preconstruction meetings as deemed necessary by the City o Investigating and recording preconstruction site conditions o Obtaining permits for work as required by the City of Danville o The consultant must be able to directly and effectively communicate with City Utilities Employees. City Employee supervision to visually spot each existing utility crossing shall be mandatory for each bore that crosses any existing underground utilities (Water, Gas & Sewer). o Required depths of bores will vary, with the standard being 3 Ft from the top of the proposed conduit installation. Obstacles, circumstances and existing utilities can greatly affect the desired depth. o The consultant must be able to perform required tasks in a reasonable timeframe, while maintaining safety & housekeeping practices as work progresses. Consultant will be responsible for trash, dirt, mud and slurry being disposed of from the work site.
