The objective of this project is to address transportation, pedestrian and safety issues. In summary, the project goals are as follows. Improve the safety, capacity, and operation for all users along the CSAH 20 corridor. Improve pedestrian accommodations throughout the corridor. Develop public engagement strategies to achieve agency community acceptance of a preferred layout. Investigate expanding CSAH 20 into a 4-lane highway. Evaluate and develop a design of the CSAH 20/Military Rd. intersection that includes the future extension of Pioneer Drive to the south Determine current and future management of access along CSAH 20. Work through Washington County's public engagement process and develop a preferred layout that meets all MnDOT, City of Cottage Grove and Washington County requirements for preliminary design and environmental documentation required for project authorization. Identify and implement stormwater drainage improvements that appropriately balance the requirements of all agencies with the needs and goals of the community. Maintain the long-term transportation goals of Washington County and the City of Cottage Grove. The City of Woodbury will also be involved as part of this project with the future expansion of Pioneer Drive. Achieve a construction schedule that minimizes public inconvenience, while being sensitive to reducing overall project costs and environmental impacts.
