St. Johns County reserves the right to accept or reject any or all bids/proposals, waive minor informalities, or award the bid/proposal which best serves the interests of St. Johns County. Site visit is highly recommended Approximately 1000 Sq feet of Playground area The goal of this play structure is to enhance the recreational opportunities at Alpine Groves Park while prioritizing safety, inclusivity, and environmental harmony for children ages 2-5 years of age. Parks and Recreation is looking for options to maximize the available funding for this project. The Turnkey project includes, but not limited to, the removal of existing equipment, site prep, provision of equipment, supplies, and installation of new playground. We look forward to receiving proposals that meet these criteria and contribute to the park's mission of providing a natural, engaging, and safe environment for our youngest visitors. Design Theme The play structure must reflect natural elements to blend seamlessly with the existing aesthetics of Alpine Groves Park. Design features could include color schemes that mimic natural wood, greens, and earth tones, and shapes or structures resembling trees, leaves, or animals. Interactive Elements o The structure should include various interactive elements that encourage physical activity, learning, and social interaction among children. These might include slides, tunnels, climbing areas, and tactile panels o All elements must be designed in compliance with all applicable with safety and accessibility codes, rules, regulations and policies. Installation Requirements o The contractor responsible for installation must adhere to all local safety regulations during construction. o Post-installation, the site will be inspected by St Johns County Parks & Recreation Facilities Maintenance Park Inspector to ensure compliance with the specified safety standards and ADA requirements Equipment Material Specifications o Age-appropriate signage o Galvanized or aluminum uprights with stainless steel hardware or recycled materials o All Powder coated metals must be treated with primer and coastal application o Preference for materials that are eco-friendly and sustainably sourced, such as recycled plastics or sustainably harvested wood, to align with the park's commitment to environmental stewardshipEquipment Safety o All equipment and /or materials shall meet all State and Federal Safety regulations, including, but limited to the following: o American Society for Testing & materials (ASTM) a. ASTM-F1487 Standards-Methods of Testing Playground Equipment for Public Use b. ASTM-F1292 Standards-Methods for testing various surfacing materials to determine "critical height" o Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) - printed handbook for Public Playground Safety o National Playground Safety Institute (NPSI) Identification of 12 leading causes of injuries on playgrounds o Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA0 Regulations for Title III, Appendix A, Standards for Accessible Design Question Deadline 03/05/2025 at 4:00 PM ET
