Renovation of a library in Richmond, Virginia. Design plans call for the renovation of a library; and five-story above grade library.
As of April 2, 2026, this project is in design and no building permits have been field. The architect has been identified and information regarding the method of general contractor selection is unavailable. A firm construction timeline has not been established. The purpose of this RFP is to solicit proposals with the intent to enter a contract through competitive negotiations for the professional services of an Architectural/Engineering firm, authorized to do business in the Commonwealth of Virginia, with experience in renovations of research libraries to maximize the visitor experience while maintaining physical security. Offerors must have experience in development of exhibition or gallery space for historically significant materials. Offerors must have experience in designing state-of-the-art, non-intrusive security infrastructure. Offerors must have experience designing space for ancillary services, such as café and gift shop, to enhance visitor experience. Offerors must have experience designing reading rooms, special collections spaces, events or conferences spaces within a library context.
