CR Number: 2118970 Scope of Work Clearly outline the scope of work for the Aviary Boardwalk. Aviary Boardwalk - The wire mesh enclosed aviary has a pressure treat wooden boardwalk that meanders through the exhibit. This boardwalk allows guests to enter the exhibit and get an up close and personal animal experiencewith various bird types. The existing is built using pressure treated wood with non-corrosive fasteners. The woodhas been coated with an exterior paint which of there is no record.The current boardwalk is approximately 112 feet long, varies in width from 36 to 62 inches, the height varies from ongrade to 12 inches above grade. This is currently an active exhibit and animals will be relocated while work is being performed. Means of closing andfencing work areas will need to be discussed and approved by the zoo curating staff. Scope of Work: The new boardwalk will follow the current path through the exhibit maintaining the current length, width and height. The total length of the current boardwalk is approximately 112' There are various widths along the boardwalk ranging from 36"- 62". Wider areas are for guests to stop and view the animals. The height of the boardwalk ranges from grade level to approximately 12" off grade. Contractor is responsible for demolition and removal of existing boardwalk The new boardwalk should meet ADA requirementsThe new rail system should match the existing wood system and include wire meshing. All fasteners should be galvanized or other non-corrosive materials adequate in sizes and strengths to meet all codes. All cut ends of wood member will be comprehensively sealed to safeguard against potential deterioration. All new deck boards should run perpendicular to the flow of foot traffic and be long enough to span the entire width with no butted ends. 4 - 36 inch gates for keeper access to the exhibit will be included, one at each end of the boardwalk Wire mesh to be used on the rail system shall match the existing mesh for gauge and grid spacing Wire mesh will be fastened to the outside of the rail system Bonding Information Submit necessary performance and payment bonding information To gain a deeper understanding of the project, we encourage a guided walk-through of the exhibits.
