Piggyback Solicitation No Insurance Required No Bid Bond Required No Performance Bond Required No Construction Bond Required No 3.1 Scope: The successful Bidder(s) shall be responsible for providing all necessary installation, labor, materials, tools, equipment, repairs, and other services required for the installation of new floor coverings as specified herein, at the prices outlined during the term of the agreement. These services will be provided on an as-needed basis by the District. The performance of the successful Bidder(s) must comply with the specifications outlined in this document. Non-compliance with these requirements may result in rejection of the Bid or cancellation of the award. 3.2 The bid consists of the following. a.) Site Preparation: o Clear all existing floor coverings (if applicable), debris, and any additional obstacles that may interfere with the installation process. o Ensure the subfloor is properly prepared, including cleaning, leveling, and patching any defects. o Verify that environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, etc.) are suitable for floor covering installation. b.) Floor Coverings: o Provide high-quality floor coverings as specified. o Floor covering materials must meet or exceed industry standards for durability, performance, and safety in commercial settings. o The floor types include, but are not limited to: A. Carpet B. Vinyl C. Rubber Textured Stair Tread c.) Quality Control: o Ensure all floor covering installations are completed cleanly, efficiently, and professionally with no defects in workmanship. o Provide a warranty covering both materials and installation. o Conduct a final inspection with District representatives upon project completion to ensure all work meets quality standards. o The awarded Contractor will collaborate closely with designated District personnel throughout each project. d.) Installation Requirements: o The District has established the following guidelines for floor covering materials and installation techniques. o Carpet Materials: o Must be tufted yarn or solution-dyed nylon carpet intended for general educational facilities use as an interior finish as certified by the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services Commodity Testing Laboratory, as conforming to the specifications for the Florida Department of Education Product Evaluation Program. o Pile fiber: shall consist of 100% branded soil hiding and static resistant continuous filament nylon with a pile weight of 28 oz. per sq. yd. minimum. o Backing: shall be 100% synthetic material for both primary and secondary backings; 100% synthetic unitary backing is acceptable. o Carpet fiber shall be 100% continuous filament soil-hiding nylon with integral anti-static and anti-microbial treatments. o Face Construction: textured loop. o Density: 8,000 or greater. o Finished Pile Thickness: 0.123-inch maximum. o Gauge: 1/8". o Total Weight: 61.0 oz. / yd or greater. o Performance Characteristics: o Flammability: o ASTM E662 (NFPA 258), Specific Optical Density of Smoke Generated by Solid Materials: Passes, <450. o ASTM E662 (NFPA 258), Specific Optical Density of Smoke Generated by Solid Materials: Passes, <450. o ASTM E648 (NFPA 253), Critical Radiant Flux: Class 1, >1.00 W/cm2. o ASTM E84 (NFPA 255), Surface Burning Characteristics, Flame spread: Standard formula, Class B (26-75); Class A formula is Class A (0-25). o Colorfastness: o Lightfastness: Not less than 60 AFU fading units (AATCC 16E, Gray Scale).. o Crocking Test: Not less than Class 4 (AATCC 8) o Carpet Accessories: o Carpet Edge Guard: Extruded or molded heavy-duty vinyl or rubber of size and profile indicated; minimum 2-inch-wide anchorage flange; manufacturer`s standard colors o Seaming Cement: Hot-melt adhesive tape or similar product recommended by carpet manufacturers for taping seams and butting cut edges at backing to form secure seams and to prevent pile loss at seams. o Approved Carpet Adhesives o Sterling G-400 Multi-purpose Adhesive as manufactured by Adhesive Industries Manufacturing Company, Dalton, Georgia. o Roberts 3085 Multi-purpose Adhesive as manufactured by Roberts Consolidated Industries, Inc., Boca Raton, Florida. o AAT 275 as manufactured by Advanced Adhesive Technology, Inc., Dalton, Georgia. o Installation - Carpet: o Comply with manufacturer`s recommendations for seam locations and direction of carpet; maintain uniformity of carpet direction and lay of pile. At doorways, center seams under door in closed position; do not place seams perpendicular to doorframe, in direction of traffic through doorway. Do not bridge building expansion joints with continuous carpet. o The subfloor must be clean, dry, level, and debris-free. Any unevenness or damage to the subfloor must be repaired before carpet installation. o The contractor shall provide and install suitable padding and underlayment beneath the carpet per the manufacturer's recommendations. o Extend carpet under removable flanges and furnishings and into alcoves and closets of each space. o Provide cutouts where required, and bind cut edges where not concealed by protective edge guards or overlapping flanges. o Install carpet edge guard where edge of carpet is exposed, anchor guards to substrate. o Fit sections of carpet prior to application of adhesive. Trim edges and butt cuts with seaming cement. o Apply adhesive uniformly with the manufacturer-recommended trowel size to the substrate in accordance with the manufacturer`s instructions. Butt edges tight to form seams without gaps. Carpet shall be rolled with 100 lb. roller in both directions to eliminate air pockets and ensure uniform bond. o Any transition areas where carpet meets other flooring types must be finished with an appropriate transition strip or metal edging, ensuring a smooth transition. o Vinyl Composition Tile (VCT): o Type: Tarkett(R) "Cortina Colors & Classics" vinyl composition tile composed of vinyl resins, plasticizers, stabilizers, fillers and pigments, commercial quality, Type IV, Composition I, asbestos free. o Tile flooring shall have a design/pattern and color that extend uniformly throughout the tile thickness so that the pattern and color do not change during the wear of the product o Flame Spread Rating: ASTM E648 (NFPA 255), Surface Burning Characteristics, Flammability Class 1>0.45 CFR (26-75) o Smoke Development: ASTM E662 (NFPA 258), Specific Optical Density of Smoke Generated by Solid Materials: Passes, <450 o Size: 12" x 12", 1/8" thick. As scheduled o Design #/Pattern/Color: As scheduled o Type: Flexco(R) "CONTRACT VINYL TILE" is a solid, homogeneous vinyl tile; binder comprises at least 45% of the weight of the product; chemical resistance and abrasion resistance; does not require the use of a floor finish. o Tile flooring shall have design/pattern and color that extend uniformly throughout the tile thickness so that the pattern and color do not change during the wear of the product. o Flame Spread Rating: ASTM E84 (NFPA 255), Surface Burning Characteristics, Flame spread: Standard formula, Class B (26-75). o Smoke Development: ASTM E662 (NFPA 258), Specific Optical Density of Smoke Generated by Solid Materials: Passes, <450. o Critical Radiant Flux: ASTM E648 (NFPA 253), Critical Radiant Flux: Class 1, >1.00 W/cm2. o Size: 24" x 24", 1/8" thick. As scheduled. o Design #/Pattern/Color: As scheduled. o Type: Armstrong "STANDARD EXCELON SERIES" vinyl composition tile composed of vinyl resins, plasticizers, stabilizers, fillers and pigments, commercial quality, Type IV, Composition I, asbestos free. o Tile flooring shall have design/pattern and color that extend uniformly throughout the tile thickness so that the pattern and color do not change during the wear of the product. o Flame Spread Rating: ASTM E84 (NFPA 255), Surface Burning Characteristics, Flame spread: Standard formula, Class B (26-75). o Smoke Development: ASTM E662 (NFPA 258), Specific Optical Density of Smoke Generated by Solid Materials: Passes, <450. o Critical Radiant Flux: ASTM E648 (NFPA 253), Critical Radiant Flux: Class 1, >1.00 W/cm2. o Size: 12" x 12", 1/8" thick. As scheduled. o Design #/Pattern/Color: As scheduled. o Rubber Textured Stair Tread: o Type A rubber, FSRR-T650E complete with pre-molded stair nosing. o Gauge: minimum 1/4 ". o Manufacturer/length/nosing type color: o Length shall be entire run of stair o Pre-molded nosing types: square, round, or adjustable nosing o Color to be homogenous o Acceptable manufacturers: Mercer, Robbe, Flexco o Installation - Vinyl Wall Base and Rubber Textured Stair Tread: o Before installing wall base or stair treads, prepare surfaces in accordance with wall base or stair threads manufacturer's published instructions. o Apply wall base to walls, columns, pilasters, casework and other permanent fixtures in rooms or areas where wall base is required. Use a continuous roll when possible. o Apply stair treads to entire run of stair. Wall base may be used for the rise of stair. o Install base and treads on solid backing. Bond tight to wall and floor surfaces. o On wall base, fit joints tight and vertical. Do NOT use pieces less than 18 inches long. o Stair treads shall be continuous unless otherwise directed. o At corners: o Use pre-molded inside and outside corner units or 'V' cut back of base strip to 2/3 of its thickness and fold as directed by Construction Project Manager. o Mitered joints at outside corners are NOT acceptable. o No returns at door jams less than 2". o Scribe and fit to door frames and other interruptions.
