Demolition, site work, renovation and addition to a mixed-use development in Cresco, Iowa. Completed plans call for the addition of a 23,000-square-foot educational facility; for the demolition of a educational facility; for the renovation of a educational facility; for site work for a educational facility; and playground / park / athletic field.
Elementary: The proposed project includes relocation of the Middle School population to the High School building. The work at the Elementary building includes remodeling several classrooms and renovations of the existing Main Office to accommodate a new secure entry vestibule. A playground is to be constructed for elementary use. High School: To provide adequate space for the relocated Middle School population, (2) classroom additions are planned to add 14,000 SF. A third addition of roughly 9,000 SF is to be constructed at the High School to provide a new HS Main Office, music spaces, and F&CS. The proposed work could include the demolition of existing greenhouse and storage shed. Other existing areas at the High School to be remodeled include art rooms, science rooms, commons, and complete remodel of the existing auditorium, as well as new feeding of electrical and plumbing systems, light fixture replacement, and sprinkler line extensions throughout various areas of the building. Duration: The Design Team is currently working through Design Development with the District. The work is intended to be delivered as one project with drawings scheduled to be completed for bidding in August of 2025. The estimated construction period is September 2025 through December 2026. The CMaR Statement of Qualification (SOQ) submittals will be ranked based on the following criteria: o Firm Profile & Background o Applicable Project Experience, Qualifications, References o Project Team and Company Structure o Proposed Delivery Method & Management Processes o Safety Record & Internal Safety Program Location: 1000 4th Ave E, Cresco, IA 52136 Additions and Renovations (appx. value $14.5M) 04/10/2025 2:00 pm Statements of Qualifications Due/Opened Publicly Ranking Evaluation Complete / Tentative Contract Award by District Board 04/28/2025 The Howard-Winneshiek Community School District will select the respondent that offers the best value based on the published selection criteria and ranking evaluation.
