Site work for a bridge / tunnel in Anchorage, Alaska. Completed plans call for site work for a bridge / tunnel.

The purpose of this project is to build a new Rail Bridge at ARRC Mile Post 114.3 over Ship Creek in Anchorage Alaska. The existing super structure consists of two 34' steel beam approach spans, one 125' steel pony truss, two concrete piers built up on pile and 2 concrete abutment caps on pile. The proposed structure will consist of two 79' ballast deck beam spans, one 30' ballast deck beam span, two abutments and two bents consisting of a total of ten driven steel pipe pile (42" x 7/8" wall at bent 3 and 48" x 1' wall at the abutments and bent 2) and reinforced concrete caps. The new bridge will be built on the existing alignment. Work completed under this contract includes, but not limited to; -The removal and disposal of the existing superstructure in its entirety and sub structure to the limits shown in the plans. -The installation of the new bridge sub structure and super structure. -Fabrication of all concrete abutments, piers, and wingwalls. -Track Raise and surfacing across the limits and to the proposed profile shown in the plans. -Removal of the two abandoned creek access staircases. -Installation of new riprap at the abutments with dimensions and grades shown in the plans. -Construction, maintenance, and removal of all temporary access pads and structures necessary for the contractor to complete the work and within the limits permitted. ARRC is supplying the steel super structure (shown in the BR_114.3_Ship Creek - Steel Package-IFC) and the track materials including ties, track jewelry and rail. Work shall be planned to minimize the duration of track outages during the work week. Expect uninterrupted windows generally 3 pm Friday to Monday at 7 am. Train traffic will frequently interrupt any work or equipment fouling the tracks Monday through Friday from 7 am to 3 pm. An ARRC provided Railroad Flagger will provide track protection, hold authority over the track when able, and communicate train traffic to the contractor. The in-water work window dictated by NMFS and ADFG is from December 1st to March 31st. All in water work, temporary or permanent needs to be completed during this time. This includes the removal of temporary structures. Substantial completion needs to be reached by May 1,2026 This deadline avoids impacting the passenger season. The Municipality of Anchorage has a project to construct a bike path underneath the proposed 30' span. To facilitate their work, grading and civil work at the south approach needs to be complete and available for the Municipalities contractor to begin work on June 1st 2026. Final Completion date is July 31,2026. Please direct all responses and/or questions concerning this invitation to bid in writing to Rob Walker, Alaska Railroad Corporation, Supply Management, 327 W. Ship Creek Avenue, Anchorage, AK 99501, telephone number 907-265-2218, email address Walkerr@akrr.com.
