The District is soliciting bids under a Design-Bid-Build Low Bid procurement method. The Butte College Physical Science Building was constructed in 1974 under DSA Application No. 34154. The Outside Gross building area (OGSF) is 20,635 square feet. The Type V-NR structure is a permanent concrete, steel beam and wood frame structure. The original existing building was designed to provide laboratories and lecture classrooms for Physical Science curriculum in chemistry, geology, meteorology, physics, and physical science. The District has maintained those labs and science related classrooms over the last 49 years. This project will require considerable building exterior and interior demolition as required to modernize the exterior to include roofing, building cladding, doors, and storefront entries, as well as structural and seismic upgrades. Building envelope improvements will upgrade both finishes and building systems to meet current needs and standards, providing a fully sprinklered building that meets or exceeds Title 24 efficiency standards. More sophisticated Contractor Furnished and Installed technology systems are designed into the facility so the system can deliver state-of-the-art instructional programs to make buildings "smarter" by providing cabling and deliverance systems to the instructional space. The restrooms and exterior pathways and entrances on all sides of the building will be upgraded and made fully ADA compliant. Sitework is limited to improvements immediately adjacent to the building with limited underground site utility improvements. SUMMARY OF WORK Work under this contract includes the following task areas, as shown on the drawings, specified in the Project Manual, and defined in the project contract documents, including but not necessarily limited to. 1. Provide seismic rehabilitation per as called out in structural drawings. 2. Partial demolition and remodel of the existing Physical Science building with site utility upgrades and access improvements. a. Demolition of interior partitions, finishes, ceilings and insulation. b. Reconfiguration of interior partitions. c. Demolition of exterior finishes including plaster, t-111, copper standing seam roof and built up roofing. d. All new storefront windows, doors and thresholds . e. Removal and salvage of certain existing finish components, equipment and improvements. f. Mechanical equipment replacement g. Lighting and electrical upgrades h. Associated site work and Trenching underground. a. Connection of utility systems as shown on drawings. b. Coordination with site work under separate contract. A.
