Reference Number 0000380372 Bid Intent Not Available The City of Steamboat Springs is soliciting proposals from qualified contractors for the removal and replacement of ballfield safety netting at Howelsen Hill Park (Exhibit A). The selected contractor will be responsible for removing the existing netting system and providing all materials, labor, and equipment necessary to install a new netting barrier on two baseball fields (Exhibit B). The project includes the complete removal of the existing netting system and the installation of a new system. The new netting will be 35 feet tall and 210 feet long at Klumker Field and 35 feet tall and 375 feet long at Vanatta Field. NO mandatory pre-proposal meeting will be held for this project Question Deadline 03/24/2025 at 3:00 PM MT Questions are submitted online Yes, Questions shall be submitted, in writing only, via the electronic submission on online. Proposers are cautioned not to contact other City staff during this RFP process. Failure to comply may result in disqualification. Scope of Work 1. Demolition, Removal, and Disposal of Existing Netting System (Exhibit B, E & F) a. The contractor shall be responsible for the complete demolition, removal, and disposal of the existing safety netting system at, both, Klumker and Vanatta ball fields. The existing structures to be removed include: i. Klumker Field: 5 poles, 25 feet high, and 80 feet in length ii. Vanatta Field: 8 poles, 25 feet high, and 140 feet in length 2. Installation of New Netting Systems (Exhibit B) a. The contractor shall furnish and install a new safety netting system with the following specifications: i. Klumker Field: 35 feet high and 210 feet in length ii. Vanatta Field: 35 feet high and 375 feet in length b. The netting system will be fixed netting (non-retracting). c. Contractor shall provide netting specifications, including mesh size, cut sheets for City approval as part of the proposal. d. Netting mesh size will be outlined in the proposal for approval. e. The netting shall be designed for high impact use, weather and UV resistance. 3. Installation of New Poles and Foundations a. Poles shall be set in concrete foundations, per engineering recommendations.b. Refer to the attached soils investigation report to performed by NWCC (Exhibit C). c. Contractor shall provide recommended pole spacing and foundations to ensure structural integrity and optimal safety. d. The poles shall be 8" minimum pipe diameter. e. Pole will be a be finished in black paint. f. Contractor shall provide pole specifications, including pole size, cut sheets, and concrete recommendations for City approval. 4. Site Reclamation and Irrigation a. The installation of poles and netting may impact existing irrigation systems and turf. The contractor shall: i. Identify pole locations two weeks prior to project mobilization at pre-construction meeting to allow for necessary irrigation infrastructure isolation and/or adjustments. These adjustments will be performed by a third-party contractor under contract with the City of Steamboat Springs and could occur pre or post netting installation. ii. Provide and install 6 inches of topsoil in all areas where previous netting poles were removed. iii. Take all necessary precautions to minimize turf damage, including using compression mats in construction access points and high-traffic areas Work may start the week of September 28, 2025, or after, and must be completed by November 1, 2025.
