The Ozark Canal Modernization (Project) involves the lining of segments of the existing Ozark Canal system with an impermeable synthetic liner to increase the efficiency of the system and reduce water losses due to seepage. The Ozark Canal begins approximately 5 miles northeast of the city of Altus where it breaks from the Main Canal. Base Bid items include the first approximately 7.82 miles of the canal reach. The implementation of the next approximately 2.6 miles of canal reach (herein denoted as Option 1 Bid Items) will be constructed as funding allows. The deadline to ask questions is 4/17/2025 12:00 PM CST Questions are to be submitted using the question and answer process on the procurement website Specific elements of the project include: Stripping, clearing and grubbing the existing canal; Demolishing select drainage pipes in the canal, existing historic bridge foundations, and other riprap, rocks or bricks from the canal; Excavation and embankment fill; Installing concrete drainage inlets (beaver slides) at select existing drainage inlet pipes; Placing canal lining, performing field joints, and connections to siphon and drainage structures; Anchoring canal lining in trenches parallel to the canal; and Site restoration and clean up.
