The City of San Gabriel, located in the San Gabriel Valley of Los Angeles County, California, is rich in history, notably as the site of Mission San Gabriel Arcangel, founded in 1771. The city blends cultural heritage with modern amenities, offering a close-knit community atmosphere. With a population of approximately 40,000, San Gabriel is centrally located, providing easy access to major freeways and attractions in the greater Los Angeles area. The San Gabriel Police Department (SGPD) is dedicated to ensuring the safety and well-being of its residents. The department offers services such as patrol, investigations, traffic enforcement, and community outreach, working closely with local organizations to maintain a safe environment. The San Gabriel Police Station is situated in the heart of the city at 625 S. Del Mar Avenue, occupying 2.32 acres of city-owned land. The facility includes a 7,600-square-foot original building, constructed in the 1960s, along with a 1,450-square-foot addition completed in 2024. The organizational chart, which consists of the number of divisions and officers in the Police Department is included as Attachment A to this RFP. However, additional space is needed to accommodate future growth, including the addition of nine (9) full-time officers, five (5) full-time support staff members, and an estimated community population of 50,000 by 2045. This would bring staffing to sixty-three (63) full-time officers, ten (10) full-time support staff, and a 24/7 Communications Center staffed by eight (8) full-time dispatchers. This growth is anticipated to occur over the next 20 years. Additionally, with the expansion of the police vehicle fleet, which includes thirteen (13) marked patrol vehicles, fifteen (15) unmarked Detective vehicles, five (5) Administration vehicles, five (5) staff vehicles, and four (4) motorcycles, more space will be needed.
